he Islamic School of Nashville was founded in 1995 to address the needs and concerns of the Muslim families in the area. The school, originally just a house on 11 acres of land, was expanded in 1998, with the addition of one new portable, bringing the total number of classrooms to eight, and serving grades Pre-K through eighth grade. The school continued to grow to an enrollment of almost 100 students. In 1999, the school was re-named Nashville International Academy (NIA), with grades Pre-K through 6th grade. In addition to the name change, 5 new portables were added, allowing each grade to have its own classroom. The additional portables allowed for the expansion of the Musalla to accommodate over 100 students, a library and a science laboratory. In 2002, a separate study of Quran was offered for the students. In 2004, our Pre-Kindergarten became state certified. Also, in 2004, a computer laboratory was created. NIA has been striving for over 10 years to support the needs of Nashville and its surrounding growing Muslim communities.
