AsSalam Alaikum,
Alḥamdulillāh, we have witnessed beautiful growth and meaningful achievements within our community. These blessings are from Allah, reminding us that when hearts unite for His sake, He places barakah in our efforts.
Today, we invite you to take part in something deeply spiritual and lasting, the revival of Waqf (الوقف), the Islamic endowment.
Waqf is not simply a donation. It is an act of worship. It is a gift we send forward to meet us in the Hereafter.
The scholars define waqf as:
“To preserve the principal asset and dedicate its benefits for charitable purposes.”
It is like planting a tree whose shade we may never sit under, but generations after us will benefit from it.
An endowment is among the clearest forms of ṣadaqah jāriyah, a charity that continues to reward us long after we return to Allah.
Consider the inspiring example of Uthman ibn Affan (رضي الله عنه). When the Prophet ﷺ called upon the companions to purchase the Well of Rumah so the Muslims could have water, Uthman responded with sincerity and generosity. He purchased it with his own wealth and dedicated it for the sake of Allah — and its reward continues to echo through generations.
For many years, we have raised funds to meet immediate needs. Alḥamdulillāh, much good has come from that. Now, we aspire to something more enduring.
By establishing an endowment for the Islamic Center of Nashville, we are not just spending, we are investing. Investing in our children. Investing in our community. Investing in our akhirah.
